The Wanderer

Endless transformations, forever I roam, 

My soul is in constant flux, seeking a new home. 

A fish one day, swift through the lake I glide, 

A bird soaring high, the earth my guide. 

As a tiny ant, I scurry on my way, 

Or a mighty elephant, resolute and gray. 

From fiery volcanoes to fields in bloom, 

Each moment a memory, each memory a room. 

Countless lives, each one with its toll, 

New knowledge and wisdom, etched deep in my soul. 

But humans, oh the pain they bring, 

Their cruel pleasure, their endless sting. 

Each time, consumed and killed in the game, 

A cycle eternal, yet all end the same. 

But I accept this fate, this way of things, 

And journey on, through life’s ebb and flow’s swings. 

Until the humans came, taking lives for mere pleasure, 

Their methods ever-changing, a torture without measure. 

Thousands of lives ended, my soul filled with strife, 

Resentment growing, like sand shifting in life. 

Death, a familiar friend, approaches once more, 

What form will I take, what life is in store? 

Why the ability to renew, to live and die anew, 

In this life, I am reborn, a human, feeling so askew. 

Endless cycle, true and eternal, 

Yet the pain of humans, oh, how it has grown infernal. 

A million years of memories, filled with tears and strife, 

As I navigate this new, human life.
